I want to help agencies take the grind out of growth. This is why.

Years back, I co-founded Savanta, helping take the agency from 5 people to 500  in 7 years. Now I’m out and want to help other agencies scale by overcoming the grind associated with agency growth.

  • What I loved about agency life was the creative challenge of building a business on your own terms

  • What I hated was the endless grind of selling and doing that got in the way of scaling our original ideas

Like so many agencies we sold projects to pay our bills. The bigger we grew the more exhausting and uninspiring our lives became.  At the same time, we were being eaten by tech start-ups and digital automation, which only increased the speed we had to run to keep up with our ambitions.

The solution came when we created our first real product, BrandVue, and we never looked back.

BrandVue is a self-service product. It took time, effort and money to make, but now it serves hundreds of users and generates millions of pounds in recurring profits each year. It’s also one of Savanta’s proudest achievements and a real USP in the market.

Even further back, in the early 2000’s, I led Interbrand’s Brand Valuation offer from London. Brand Valuation was the first, most innovative and perhaps the most successful agency product ever created. It still runs today as the centrepiece of Interbrand’s offer.

Products start very small. But from humble beginnings they can become huge global icons inspiring teams, clients and communities around the world. And in the process scale the agencies that create them.

The sky really is the limit if you’re ambitious enough to challenge conventional wisdom, perhaps even your own.

For the last 3 years Covid has put increasing distance between agencies and their clients, strengthened tech firms and seen agency burnout reach new levels. It can feel hopeless but the way through has always been there; via agency products.

In 2022, this new offer sets out again to create signature agency products. I know well-made, well-marketed and well-run products can transform agencies of all types by removing the grind and enabling them to achieve their true potential.
